Death (spiritual), Summary: Spiritual death is the state of the natural or unregenerate man as still in his sins. Eph 2:1 alienated from the life of God Eph 4:18,19 and destitute of the Spirit. Prolonged beyond the death of the body, spiritual death is a state of eternal separation from God in conscious suffering. This is called "the second death." Rev 2:11 20:6,14 21:8. Here the "new man" is not the individual believer but the church, considered as the body of Christ in the sense of Eph 1:22,23 1Cor 12:12,13 Col 3:10,11. See Scofield Note: "Heb 12:23". And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
