Genealogy from Benjamin to Saul

1Benjamin (son of the right hand) was the father of Bela (destruction) his firstborn, Ashbel (fire of Bel) the second, Aharah (a following brother) the third, 2Nohah (rest) the fourth, and Rapha (tall) the fifth.

3The sons of Bela (destruction):

Addar (exceedingly glorious), Gera (a grain), Abihud (my father is majesty),a 4Abishua (my father is safety), Naaman (pleasantness), Ahoah (brother of rest), 5Gera (a grain), Shephuphan (serpent), and Huram (noble born).

6These were the descendants of Ehud (united) who were the heads of the families living in Geba (hill) and were exiled to Manahath (rest):

7Naaman (pleasantness), Ahijah (brother of Yah), and Gera (a grain), who carried them into exile and(and Gera, that is Heglam,) who was the father of Uzza (strength) and Ahihud.b

8Shaharaim (double dawn) had sons in the country of Moab (of his father) after he had divorced his wives Hushim (who makes haste) and Baara (brutish). 9His sons by his wife Hodesh (new moon):

Jobab (a desert), Zibia (roe), Mesha (freedom), Malcam (great king), 10Jeuz (counselor), Sachia (announcement), and Mirmah (fraud). These were his sons, heads of families.

11He also had sons by Hushim (who makes haste):

Abitub (my father is goodness) and Elpaal (God is maker).

12The sons of Elpaal (God is maker):

Eber (the region beyond), Misham (purification), Shemed (preserved) (who built Ono (vigorous) and Lod (travail) with its villages), 13and Beriah (with a friend) and Shema (hear) (who were the heads of families living in Aijalon (field of deer) and who drove out the inhabitants of Gath (winepress)).

14Ahio (brotherly), Shashak (longing), Jeremoth (He is Most High), 15Zebadiah (endowment of YHWH), Arad (a wild donkey), Eder (flock), 16Michael (who is like God), Ishpah (He is bare), and Joha (YHWH gives life) were the sons of Beriah (with a friend).

17Zebadiah (endowment of YHWH), Meshullam (friend), Hizki (strong), Heber (comrade), 18Ishmerai (He keeps me), Izliah (whom God will preserve), and Jobab (a desert) were the sons of Elpaal (God is maker).

19Jakim (He will raise), Zichri (memorable), Zabdi (endowment), 20Elienai (unto God are my eyes), Zillethai (dark), Eliel (El is God), 21Adaiah (YHWH has adorned Himself), Beraiah (YHWH has created), and Shimrath (guard) were the sons of Shimei (renowned).

22Ishpan (he hides), Eber (the region beyond), Eliel (El is God), 23Abdon (servile), Zichri (memorable), Hanan (he is merciful), 24Hananiah (God has favored), Elam (eternity), Anthothijah (YHWH's answer), 25Iphdeiah (YHWH will redeem), and Penuel (facing God) were the sons of Shashak (longing).

26Shamsherai (sunlike), Shehariah (dawning of YHWH), Athaliah (afflicted of YHWH), 27Jaareshiah (whom YHWH nourishes), Elijah (my God is YHWH), and Zichri (memorable) were the sons of Jeroham (showing pity).

28All these were heads of families, the chiefs according to their genealogies, and they lived in Jerusalem (city of peace).

29Jeiel the father of Gibeon (hill city) lived [The father of Gibeon lived]c in Gibeon. His wife’s name was Maacah (oppression), 30and Abdon (servile) was his firstborn son, then Zur (rock), Kish (bent), Baal [Ner],d Nadab (generous), 31Gedor (wall), Ahio (brotherly), Zecher (Zechariah),e 32and Mikloth (staves), who was the father of Shimeah (Shimeam).f They too lived alongside their relatives in Jerusalem (city of peace).

The Family of Saul

33Ner (lamp) was the father of Kish (bent), Kish was the father of Saul (desired), and Saul was the father of Jonathan (YHWH has given), Malchishua (my king is wealth), Abinadab (my father is willing), and Esh-baal (Ish-bosheth).g

34The son of Jonathan (YHWH has given):

Merib-baal (Mephibosheth),h and Merib-baal was the father of Micah (Mica).i

35The sons of Micah (who is like God):

Pithon (harmless), Melech (king), Tarea (Tahrea),j and Ahaz (he has grasped).

36Ahaz (he has grasped) was the father of Jehoaddah (YHWH has adorned), Jehoaddah (Jadah)k was the father of Alemeth (covering), Azmaveth (strong unto death), and Zimri (my music), and Zimri was the father of Moza (fountain).

37Moza (fountain) was the father of Binea. Raphah (Rephaiah)l was his son, Eleasah (God has made) his son, and Azel (proximity) his son.

38Azel (proximity) had six sons, and these were their names:

Azrikam (help against the enemy), Bocheru (firstborn), Ishmael (God hears), Sheariah (valued by YHWH), Obadiah (servant of YHWH), and Hanan (he is merciful). All these were the sons of Azel.

39The sons of his brother Eshek (oppressor):

Ulam (their leader) was his firstborn, Jeush (He hurries to aid) second, and Eliphelet (God is deliverance) third. 40The sons of Ulam (their leader) were mighty men of valor, archers, and they had many sons and grandsons—150 in all.

All these were the descendants of Benjamin (son of the right hand).
