The Perfect High Priest

1For every high priest, taken from among men, is appointed in behalf of men in the things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins; 2able to bear with the ignorant and erring, since he himself also is encompassed with infirmity; 3and, on account of it, he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to make offering for sins. 4And no one takes the honor to himself, but, when called by God, as was also Aaron.

5Thus Christ also glorified not Himself to become a high priest, but He Who spake to Him, "Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten Thee";

6as also, in another place, He saith, "Thou art a Priest forever according to the rank of Melchizedek";

7Who, in the days of His flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him Who was able to save Him from death, and having been heard by reason of His godly fear, 8though He was a Son, learned obedience from the things which He suffered; 9and, having been made perfect, He became the Author of eternal life to all who obey Him; 10having been addressed by God as "High Priest according to the rank of Melchizedek."

Milk and Solid Food
(1 Corinthians 3:1–9)

11Concerning Whom we have much to say and difficult to explain, since ye have become dull of hearing. 12For even when, on account of the time, ye ought to be teachers, ye again have need that some one teach you the first elements of the oracles of God, and have become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food; 13for every one who partakes of milk is inexperienced in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe; 14but solid food is for full-grown men, who by practice have their senses trained for the discernment both of good and evil.
