In 1 Samuel 16:12-13, the prophet Samuel anoints David, signifying God's choice: "So he sent and brought him in. He was ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features. Proverbs 31:30 states, "Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised."
