Christ (Greek: Christos)
The title "Christ" is derived from the Greek word "Christos," meaning "Anointed One," which corresponds to the Hebrew "Messiah." This title signifies Jesus as the one chosen and consecrated by God to fulfill the messianic prophecies of the Old Testament. In Matthew 16:16, Peter declares, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Messiah (Hebrew: Mashiach)
The term "Messiah" is the Hebrew equivalent of "Christ" and is used to describe the anticipated deliverer of Israel. In John 1:41, Andrew tells his brother Simon, "We have found the Messiah" (which is translated as Christ).

Son of God
This title emphasizes the divine nature and unique relationship of Jesus with God the Father. In John 3:16, it is stated, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Son of Man
A title Jesus frequently used for Himself, "Son of Man" highlights both His humanity and His role as the eschatological figure prophesied in Daniel 7:13-14. In Matthew 9:6, Jesus says, "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..."

Emmanuel (God with Us)
Prophesied in Isaiah 7:14 and fulfilled in Matthew 1:23, "Emmanuel" signifies the incarnation of God in Jesus Christ: "Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel" (which means, "God with us").

King of Kings and Lord of Lords
This title, found in Revelation 19:16, underscores the supreme authority and sovereignty of Jesus over all earthly and heavenly powers: "And He has a name written on His robe and on His thigh: King of kings and Lord of lords."

Lamb of God
John the Baptist refers to Jesus as the "Lamb of God" in John 1:29, highlighting His role as the sacrificial offering for the sins of humanity: "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"

The Word (Logos)
In John 1:1, Jesus is identified as "the Word," indicating His preexistence and divine nature: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

The Good Shepherd
Jesus describes Himself as "the Good Shepherd" in John 10:11, illustrating His care and sacrificial love for His followers: "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep."

The Way, the Truth, and the Life
In John 14:6, Jesus declares, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me," emphasizing His exclusive role in salvation and revelation of God.

The Light of the World
Jesus proclaims Himself as "the Light of the World" in John 8:12, signifying His role in illuminating spiritual truth and dispelling darkness: "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."

The Bread of Life
In John 6:35, Jesus states, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst," indicating His provision for spiritual sustenance and eternal life.

The Alpha and the Omega
In Revelation 22:13, Jesus is described as "the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End," affirming His eternal existence and divine authority over all creation.

These names, appellations, and titles reflect the multifaceted identity and mission of Jesus Christ as understood within the Christian faith, revealing His divine nature, redemptive work, and ultimate authority.
