T. of the breaking of bread (see ἄρτος, 1), Matthew 14:19; Matthew 15:36; Matthew 26:26; Mark 8:6; Mark 14:22; Luke 22:19; (); Acts 2:46; Acts 20:7, 11; Acts 27:35; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 1 Corinthians 11:24; with εἰς τινας added, a pregnant construction, equivalent to 'to break and distribute among' etc. (see εἰς, C. 1), Mark 8:19; metaphorically, τό σῶμα, shattered, as it were, by a violent death, 1 Corinthians 11:21 R G.
