1“All the commandments which I give you today, you must follow, so that you may live, multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD promised to your fathers. 2And you must remember how the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble and to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments, or not. 3And He humbled you, and let you hunger, and fed you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers ever knew; so that He might teach you that man does not live by bread alone, but lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD. 4Your clothing did not wear out, nor did your feet swell, in all those forty years. 5You must also consider in your heart, that, as a man corrects his son, so the LORD your God corrects you. 6Therefore, you must keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to fear Him. 7For the LORD your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, fountains and deep springs gushing out of valleys and hills; 8A land of wheat, barley, vines, fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil, and honey; 9A land in which you shall eat bread without scarceness, you shall not lack for anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig bronze. 10“When you have eaten and are full, then you must bless (thank) the LORD your God for the good land He has given you. 11Beware that you do not forget the LORD your God, by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes, which I command you today: 12So that, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses, and settled in them; 13And when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and gold, and all your possessions have multiplied; 14That your heart does not become prideful, and you forget the LORD your God, Who brought you out of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15Who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were venomous snakes, scorpions; and in times of drought, when there was no water; Who brought water out of the rock of flint for you; 16Who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers had never known, that He might humble you, and that He might test (prove) you, to do you good in the end. 17You may think to yourself, ‘My own power, and strength of my hand, have gotten me this wealth’. 18But you must remember the LORD, your God: for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He promised to your fathers, as it is this day. 19And, if you ever forget the LORD your God, and pursue, serve, or worship other gods, I testify before you today that you shall surely perish. 20Just as the nations which the LORD drives out and destroys before your face, so shall you perish; because you refuse to obey the word of the LORD your God.
