Matthew 5:1-12 ▼

1 And having seen the crowds, He went up onto the mountain. And on His having sat down, His disciples came to Him.

2 And having opened His mouth, He was teaching them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, because theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.

4 Blessed are those mourning, because they will be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek, because they will inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, because they will be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful, because they will receive mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart, because they will see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God.

10 Blessed are those having been persecuted on account of righteousness, because theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.

11 Blessed are you? when they may reproach you? and may persecute you and may say all evil against you?, lying, on account of Me.

12 Rejoice and exult, because your? reward is great in the heavens; for thus they persecuted the prophets before you?.
