33 And the sixth hour having come, darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why did You forsake Me?” 35 And some of those standing by, having heard, were saying, “Behold, He calls Elijah.” 36 And one, having run and having filled a sponge with vinegar, having put it on a reed, gave Him to drink, saying, “Let Him be; let us see if Elijah comes to take Him down.” 37 But Jesus, having uttered a great cry, breathed His last. 38 And the veil of the temple was torn into two from top to bottom.
