The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of God.

Just as it has been written in Isaiah the prophet: “Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way.”

“A voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight His paths.’”

John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance unto forgiveness of sins.

And all the region of Judea and all those of Jerusalem were going out to him, and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

And John was clothed in camel’s hair, and a belt of leather was around his waist, and he is eating locusts and wild honey.

And he was proclaiming, saying, “The One mighter than I comes after me, of whom I am not sufficient, having stooped down, to loose the strap of His sandals.

I baptized you? in water, but He will baptize you? in the Holy Spirit.”

And it came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.

And immediately, going up out of the water, He saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending like a dove to Him.
