1 And it came to pass in the thereafter that He was traveling through each city and village preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God, and the Twelve were with Him, 2 and certain women who had been healed from evil spirits and infirmities: Mary who is called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 3 and Joanna wife of Chuza, steward of Herod, and Susanna, and many others, who were ministering to them out of their means. 4 And a great crowd assembling and those from each town coming to Him, He spoke by a parable: 5 “The one sowing went out to sow his seed. And in his sowing, some indeed fell along the path, and it was trampled upon, and the birds of the sky devoured it. 6 And other fell upon the rock, and having sprung up, it withered because of it not having moisture. 7 And other fell in the midst of the thorns, and having sprung up with it, the thorns choked it. 8 And other fell upon the good soil, and having sprung up, it produced fruit—a hundredfold.” Saying these things, He was calling out, “The one having ears to hear, let him hear.” 9 And His disciples were asking Him, “What may this parable be?” 10 And He said, “To you? it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest, it is in parables, so that, ‘Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ 11 And this is the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 And the ones along the path are those having heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, lest having believed, they should be saved.
