1 When, therefore, the Lord knew that the Pharisees heard that Jesus was making and immersing more disciples than John

2 (although Jesus Himself did not immerse, but His disciples),

3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.

4 And it was necessary that He should go through Samaria.

5 He cometh, therefore, to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the piece of land that Jacob gave to his son Joseph;
