1 When, therefore, the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and immersing more disciples than John, 2 (though not Jesus himself, but his disciples immersed,) 3 he left Judea, and went again into Galilee. 4 And it was necessary that he should go through Samaria. 5 He came, therefore, to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
