1 We must pay closer attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2 For if the message spoken by angels (messengers) was binding, and every transgression and disobedience received its just punishment, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? This salvation was first announced by the Lord {Kyriou}, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, 4 and was affirmed by God {Theou} through signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit {Hagiou Pneumatos} distributed according to His will. 5 For it is not to angels (messengers) that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. 6 But somewhere it is testified in these words: “What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him? 7 You made him a little lower (a little while lower) than the angels (messengers); You crowned him with glory {doxē} and honor [and set him over the works of Your hands.] 8 and placed everything under his feet 9 But we see Jesus (YHWH saves), who was made a little lower than the angels (messengers), now crowned with glory {doxē} and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God {Theou} He might taste death for everyone.
