And the boys grew, and Esau was a skillful man, a hunter and a man of the field; Jacob was a blameless man, dwelling in tents.

And Isaac loved Esau because of the game in his mouth, and Rebekah loved Jacob.

And Jacob boiled a stew, and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary.

And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me gulp down, please, from the red, the red, this one, for I am weary!” (Upon thus his name was called Edom.)

And Jacob said, “Sell—today—your birthright to me.”

And Esau said, “Behold, I am going to die; and for what is this birthright to me?”

And Jacob said, “Swear to me today.” And he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.

And Jacob gave to Esau bread and stew of lentils, and he ate and he drank, and he arose and went; and Esau despised the birthright.
