1 And the word of YHWH came to me, saying: 2 “Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations, 3 and say, thus says the Lord YHWH to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth are from the land of the Canaanite; your father was an Amorite, and your mother a Hittite. 4 And of your birth, on the day you were born, your cord was not cut, and you were not washed in water for cleansing, and you were not rubbed with salt, and you were not wrapped in swaddling cloths. 5 No eye showed pity to you, to do for you one of these things to have compassion on you, and you were thrown out into the face of the field in the loathing of your soul on the day you were born. 6 And I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your own blood, and I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ And I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ 7 I made you a myriad like a plant in the field, and you increased and grew and came into the adornment of adornments. Your breasts were established, and your hair sprouted, and you were naked and bare. 8 And I passed by you and I saw you, and behold, your time was the time for love! And I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness, and I swore an oath to you and came into a covenant with you—a declaration of the Lord YHWH—and you came to be unto Me.
