14 And the LORD said to Moses, Go ahead of me, and I will give you rest. 15 And he said to him, If thou thyself will not go with us, let us not leave this place. 16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found mercy in thy sight? Is it not in that thou goest with us? So that we be distinguished, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. 17 And the LORD said to Moses, I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by your name. 18 And Moses said, Show me thy glory. 19 And he said. I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 20 And he said, You cannot see my face; for no man can see me and live. 21 And the LORD said to Moses, Behold, there is a place in front of me, and you shall stand upon the rock; 22 And it shall come to pass when my glory passes by that I will put you in a cave of the rock and will rest my hand upon you till I pass by; 23 And I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.
