1 You⁺ are sons of YHWH your⁺ God; you⁺ shall not cut yourselves, nor make a baldness between your⁺ eyes on behalf of the dead. 2 For you are a holy people to YHWH your God, and YHWH has chosen you to be for Himself a people, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. 3 You shall not eat any detestable thing. 4 This is the animal that you⁺ may eat: The ox, a lamb of the flock, and the goat, 5 the deer, and the gazelle, and the roe deer, and the wild goat, and the ibex, and the antelope, and the mountain sheep. 6 And every animal dividing the hoof and having split the cleft into two hooves, bringing up the cud, among the animals, you⁺ may eat. 7 Nevertheless, this you⁺ shall not eat of those bringing up the cud, and of those dividing the cloven hoof: The camel, and the hare, and the rock badger, for they are bringing up the cud, and the hoof have not divided; they are unclean for you⁺. 8 And the swine, for it is dividing the hoof and not bringing up the cud.
