Acts 4:1-12 ▼

1 But, as they were speaking to the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

2 being greatly troubled because of their teaching the people, and declaring in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody till the next day; for it was now evening.

4 And many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men became about five thousand.

5 And it came to pass, the next day, that their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem,

6 and Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest.

7 And, having set them in the midst, they were inquiring, "In what power or in what name, did ye do this?"

8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders,

9 if we are this day examined in regard to a good deed done to an impotent man, by what means this person has been made whole;

10 be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, Whom ye crucified, Whom God raised from the dead, in Him does this man stand here before you well!

11 This is the Stone That was set at naught by you, the builders, Which was made into a head of a corner.

12 And in no one else is there salvation; for neither is there any other name under Heaven, that has been given among men, in Which we must be saved."
