9 When King Toi (Tou) of Hamath (fortress) heard that David (beloved) had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer (Hadad is help), 10 he (wander) sent his son Joram (Hadoram) to greet King David (beloved) and bless him for fighting and defeating Hadadezer (Hadad is help), who had been at war with Toi. Joram brought with him articles of silver and gold and bronze, 11 and King David (beloved) dedicated these to the LORD {YHWH}, along with the silver and gold he had dedicated from all the nations he had subdued— 12 from Edom [Aram] and Moab (of his father), from the Ammonites (tribal) and Philistines (immigrants) and Amalekites (dwellers in a valley), and from the spoil of Hadadezer (Hadad is help) son of Rehob (broad place), king of Zobah (station). 13 And David (beloved) made a name for himself when he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites [Arameans] in the Valley of Salt. 14 He placed garrisons throughout Edom (red), and all the Edomites were subject to David (beloved). So the LORD {YHWH} made David victorious wherever he went. 15 Thus David (beloved) reigned over all Israel (he wrestles with God) and administered justice and righteousness for all his people: 16 Joab (YHWH is father) son of Zeruiah (balsam) was over the army; Jehoshaphat (YHWH has judged) son of Ahilud (child's brother) was the recorder; 17 Zadok (righteous) son of Ahitub (my brother is goodness) and Ahimelech (my brother is king) son of Abiathar (my father is great) were priests; Seraiah (Shavsha) was the scribe; 18 Benaiah (YHWH has built up) son of Jehoiada was over (YHWH knows) the Cherethites (executioners) and Pelethites (couriers); and David’s (beloved) sons were priestly leaders \priests/. 2 Samuel 8:9-18, Berean Annotated Bible.
