A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment. God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: A psalm of Asaph. God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the “gods|:
He says, |How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah) “How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah “How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked?
Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering! Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked! Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble. They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.' I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; “I said, ‘You are “gods|; you are all sons of the Most High.’
Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers.| nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.” But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.”
Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own all the nations. Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations! Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.
