1 Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of David. Shall not my soul be subject to God? for from him is my salvation. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David. Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
2 For he is my God and my saviour: he is my protector, I shall be moved no more. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
3 How long do you rush in upon a man? you all kill, as if you were thrusting down a leaning wall, and a tottering fence. How long will all of you attack a man to batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence? How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
4 But they have thought to cast away my price; I ran in thirst: they blessed with their mouth, but cursed with their heart. They only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.
5 But be thou, O my soul, subject to God: for from him is my patience. For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
6 For he is my God and my saviour: he is my helper, I shall not be moved. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7 In God is my salvation and my glory: he is the God of my help, and my hope is in God. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him, all ye congregation of people: pour out your hearts before him. God is our helper for ever. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
9 But vain are the sons of men, the sons of men are liars in the balances: that by vanity they may together deceive. Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.
10 Trust not in iniquity, and cover not robberies: if riches abound, set not your heart upon them. Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them. Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.
11 God hath spoken once, these two things have I heard, that power belongeth to God, Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God,
12 and mercy to thee, O Lord; for thou wilt render to every man according to his works. and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work. and with you, Lord, is unfailing love|; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”
