<V 61:1>Unto the end. For Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. <V 61:2>Will my soul not be subject to God? For from him is my salvation. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David. Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
<V 61:3>Yes, he himself is my God and my salvation. He is my supporter; I will be moved no more. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
<V 61:4>How is it that you rush against a man? Every one of you puts to death, as if you were pulling down a ruined wall, leaning over and falling apart. How long will all of you attack a man to batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence? How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
<V 61:5>So, truly, they intended to reject my price. I ran in thirst. They blessed with their mouth and cursed with their heart. They only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.
<V 61:6>Yet, truly, my soul will be subject to God. For from him is my patience. For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
<V 61:7>For he is my God and my Savior. He is my helper; I will not be expelled. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
<V 61:8>In God is my salvation and my glory. He is the God of my help, and my hope is in God. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
<V 61:9>All peoples gathered together: trust in him. Pour out your hearts in his sight. God is our helper for eternity. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
<V 61:10>So, truly, the sons of men are untrustworthy. The sons of men are liars in the scales, so that, by emptiness, they may deceive among themselves. Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.
<V 61:11>Do not trust in iniquity, and do not desire plunder. If riches flow toward you, do not be willing to set your heart on them. Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them. Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.
<V 61:12>God has spoken once. I have heard two things: that power belongs to God, Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God,
<V 61:13>and that mercy belongs to you, O Lord. For you will repay each one according to his works. and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work. and with you, Lord, is unfailing love|; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”
