Song of ascensions. Remember, O Jehovah, for David with all his affliction. Remember, O LORD, in David’s favor, all the hardships he endured, A song of ascents. LORD, remember David and all his self-denial.
Who sware to Jehovah; he vowed to the mighty one of Jacob: how he swore to the LORD and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob, He swore an oath to the LORD, he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
If I shall go into the tent of my house, if I shall go up upon the bed of my couch; “I will not enter my house or get into my bed, “I will not enter my house or go to my bed,
If I shall give sleep to mine eyes, slumber to mine eye-lashes, I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, I will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
Even till I shall find a place for Jehovah, dwellings for the mighty one of Jacob. until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.” till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
Behold, we heard it in Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the forest. Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar. We heard it in Ephrathah, we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:
We will come in to his dwellings: we will worship at the footstool of his feet. “Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool!” “Let us go to his dwelling place, let us worship at his footstool, saying,
Arise, O Jehovah, to thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength. Arise, O LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. Arise, LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.
Thy priests shall put on justice, and thy godly ones shall rejoice. Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your saints shout for joy. May your priests be clothed with your righteousness; may your faithful people sing for joy.’”
For sake of David thy servant thou wilt not turn away the face of thy Messiah. For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your anointed one. For the sake of your servant David, do not reject your anointed one.
Jehovah sware the truth to David; he will not turn back from it: from the fruit of thy belly I will set upon the throne to thee. The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: “One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: “One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.
If thy sons shall watch my covenant and my testimonies, these I shall teach them; also their sons even to forever shall sit upon the throne to thee forever. If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.” If your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever.”
For Jehovah chose in Zion; for he desired it for a dwelling to himself. For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,
This my rest even forever: here I will dwell, for I desired it. “This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. “This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.
Blessing I will bless her provision: I will fill her needy with bread. I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food.
And I will put upon her priests salvation, and her godly ones shall rejoice a rejoicing. Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy. I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.
There will I cause the horn to David to spring up: I prepared a lamp for my Messiah. There I will make a horn to sprout for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed. “Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
I will put shame upon his enemies, and upon him shall his diadem flourish. His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.” I will clothe his enemies with shame, but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”
