1 For the one directing. A Psalm of David. Until when, O YHWH? Will You forget me forever? Until when will You hide Your face from me? How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? For the director of music. A psalm of David. How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
2 Until when shall I set counsel in my soul, and sorrow in my heart daily? Until when will my enemy be raised high over me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
3 Look attentively; answer me, O YHWH my God! Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death, Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, Look on me and answer, LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
4 lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him.” My adversaries rejoice because I am shaken. lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken. and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
5 Yet I have trusted in Your loving devotion; My heart will rejoice in Your salvation. But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing to YHWH, because He has dealt bountifully with me. I will sing to the LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me. I will sing the LORD’s praise, for he has been good to me.
