Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these were the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah. Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the clans of Manasseh the son of Joseph. The names of his daughters were: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. The daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Makir, the son of Manasseh, belonged to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. The names of the daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirzah. They came forward
And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and the whole assembly, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, saying, And they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest and before the chiefs and all the congregation, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, saying, and stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders and the whole assembly at the entrance to the tent of meeting and said,
Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the band of them that banded themselves together against Jehovah in the band of Korah; but he died in his own sin, and he had no sons. “Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah, but died for his own sin. And he had no sons. “Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among Korah’s followers, who banded together against the LORD, but he died for his own sin and left no sons.
Why should the name of our father be taken away from his family, because he has no son? Give unto us a possession among the brethren of our father. Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan because he had no son? Give to us a possession among our father’s brothers.” Why should our father’s name disappear from his clan because he had no son? Give us property among our father’s relatives.”
And Moses brought their cause before Jehovah. Moses brought their case before the LORD. So Moses brought their case before the LORD,
And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, And the LORD said to Moses, and the LORD said to him,
The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. “The daughters of Zelophehad are right. You shall give them possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer the inheritance of their father to them. “What Zelophehad’s daughters are saying is right. You must certainly give them property as an inheritance among their father’s relatives and give their father’s inheritance to them.
And unto the children of Israel shalt thou speak, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. And you shall speak to the people of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter. “Say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, give his inheritance to his daughter.
And if he have no daughter, ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren. And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers.
And if he have no brethren, ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren. And if he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
And if his father have no brethren, ye shall give his inheritance to his kinsman that is nearest to him in his family, and he shall possess it; and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of right, as Jehovah commanded Moses. And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest kinsman of his clan, and he shall possess it. And it shall be for the people of Israel a statute and rule, as the LORD commanded Moses.’” If his father had no brothers, give his inheritance to the nearest relative in his clan, that he may possess it. This is to have the force of law for the Israelites, as the LORD commanded Moses.’”
And Jehovah said to Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land that I have given unto the children of Israel. The LORD said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go up this mountain in the Abarim Range and see the land I have given the Israelites.
And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy peoples, as Aaron thy brother was gathered, When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was,
because ye rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, as to hallowing me in the matter of the water before their eyes. (That is the water of Meribah at Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.) because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin when the congregation quarreled, failing to uphold me as holy at the waters before their eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.) for when the community rebelled at the waters in the Desert of Zin, both of you disobeyed my command to honor me as holy before their eyes.” (These were the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Desert of Zin.)
And Moses spoke to Jehovah, saying, Moses spoke to the LORD, saying, Moses said to the LORD,
Let Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the assembly, “Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation “May the LORD, the God who gives breath to all living things, appoint someone over this community
who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in, that the assembly of Jehovah be not as sheep that have no shepherd. who shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be as sheep that have no shepherd.” to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the LORD’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”
And Jehovah said to Moses, Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and thou shalt lay thy hand upon him; So the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him. So the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him.
and thou shalt set him before Eleazar the priest, and before the whole assembly; and give him commandment before their eyes. Make him stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight. Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly and commission him in their presence.
And thou shalt put of thine honour upon him, that the whole assembly of the children of Israel may obey him. You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey. Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him.
And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him, by the judgment of the Urim before Jehovah: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, he, and all the children of Israel with him, even the whole assembly. And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.” He is to stand before Eleazar the priest, who will obtain decisions for him by inquiring of the Urim before the LORD. At his command he and the entire community of the Israelites will go out, and at his command they will come in.”
