3	And Moses and Eleazar the priest talked with the people in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.	And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,	So on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them and said,
4	And Moses numbered them from twenty years old and upward, as the LORD commanded Moses and the children of Israel who went forth out of the land of Egypt.	“Take a census of the people, from twenty years old and upward,” as the LORD commanded Moses. 5	Reuben, the first-born of Israel; the sons of Reuben, Hanoch, the family of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites;	Reuben, the firstborn of Israel; the sons of Reuben: of Hanoch, the clan of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the clan of the Palluites;	The descendants of Reuben, the firstborn son of Israel, were: through Hanok, the Hanokite clan; through Pallu, the Palluite clan;
6	Of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.	of Hezron, the clan of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the clan of the Carmites.	through Hezron, the Hezronite clan; through Karmi, the Karmite clan.
7	These are the families of the Reubenites; and their number was forty-three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.	These are the clans of the Reubenites, and those listed were 43,730.	These were the clans of Reuben; those numbered were 43,730.
8	And the son of Pallu, Eliab.	And the sons of Pallu: Eliab.	The son of Pallu was Eliab,
9	And the sons of Eliab, Nebuel, and Dathan, and Abiram, the prominent men of the congregation who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah when they strove against the LORD;	The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram. These are the Dathan and Abiram, chosen from the congregation, who contended against Moses and Aaron in the company of Korah, when they contended against the LORD	and the sons of Eliab were Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. The same Dathan and Abiram were the community officials who rebelled against Moses and Aaron and were among Korah’s followers when they rebelled against the LORD.
10	And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up together with Korah when that company died, when the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men; and they became an example.	and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, when the fire devoured 250 men, and they became a warning.	The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them along with Korah, whose followers died when the fire devoured the 250 men. And they served as a warning sign.
11	Notwithstanding, the children of Korah did not die.	But the sons of Korah did not die.	The line of Korah, however, did not die out.
12	The sons of Simeon after their families: of Jemuel, the family of the Jemuelites; of Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the family of the Jachinites;	The sons of Simeon according to their clans: of Nemuel, the clan of the Nemuelites; of Jamin, the clan of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the clan of the Jachinites;	The descendants of Simeon by their clans were: through Nemuel, the Nemuelite clan; through Jamin, the Jaminite clan; through Jakin, the Jakinite clan;

19	The sons of Judah were Er and Onan; and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.	The sons of Judah were Er and Onan; and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.	Er and Onan were sons of Judah, but they died in Canaan.
20	And the sons of Judah after their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Pharez, the family of the Pharzites; of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites.	And the sons of Judah according to their clans were: of Shelah, the clan of the Shelanites; of Perez, the clan of the Perezites; of Zerah, the clan of the Zerahites.	The descendants of Judah by their clans were: through Shelah, the Shelanite clan; through Perez, the Perezite clan; through Zerah, the Zerahite clan.
21	And the sons of Pharez were: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites. 23	The sons of Issachar after their families: of Tola, the family of the Tolaites; of Pua, the family, of the Puaites;	The sons of Issachar according to their clans: of Tola, the clan of the Tolaites; of Puvah, the clan of the Punites;	The descendants of Issachar by their clans were: through Tola, the Tolaite clan; through Puah, the Puite clan;

26	The sons of Zebulun after their families: of Seder, the family of the Sadrites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Nahlael, the family of the Nahlaites. 27	These are the families of the Zebulunites according to those that were numbered of them, sixty thousand and five hundred.	These are the clans of the Zebulunites as they were listed, 60,500.	These were the clans of Zebulun; those numbered were 60,500.
28	tithe sons of Joseph after their families were Manasseh and Ephraim:	The sons of Joseph according to their clans: Manasseh and Ephraim.	The descendants of Joseph by their clans through Manasseh and Ephraim were:
29	Of the sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and Machir begat Gilead: of Gilead comes the family of the Gileadites.	The sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the clan of the Machirites; and Machir was the father of Gilead; of Gilead, the clan of the Gileadites.	The descendants of Manasseh: through Makir, the Makirite clan (Makir was the father of Gilead); through Gilead, the Gileadite clan.

34	These are the families of Manasseh and those that were numbered of them, fifty-two thousand and seven hundred.	These are the clans of Manasseh, and those listed were 52,700.	These were the clans of Manasseh; those numbered were 52,700.
35	These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthalhites; of Becher, the family of the Bachrites; of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites.	These are the sons of Ephraim according to their clans: of Shuthelah, the clan of the Shuthelahites; of Becher, the clan of the Becherites; of Tahan, the clan of the Tahanites.	These were the descendants of Ephraim by their clans: through Shuthelah, the Shuthelahite clan; through Beker, the Bekerite clan; through Tahan, the Tahanite clan.
36	And these are the sons of Shuthelah: of Edan, the family of the Edanites.	And these are the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the clan of the Eranites.	These were the descendants of Shuthelah: through Eran, the Eranite clan.
37	These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty-two thousand and five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph after their families.	These are the clans of the sons of Ephraim as they were listed, 32,500. These are the sons of Joseph according to their clans.	These were the clans of Ephraim; those numbered were 32,500. These were the descendants of Joseph by their clans.
38	The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela, the family of the Belaites; of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites; of Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites;	The sons of Benjamin according to their clans: of Bela, the clan of the Belaites; of Ashbel, the clan of the Ashbelites; of Ahiram, the clan of the Ahiramites;	The descendants of Benjamin by their clans were: through Bela, the Belaite clan; through Ashbel, the Ashbelite clan; through Ahiram, the Ahiramite clan;

41	These are the sons of Benjamin after their families; and those that were numbered of them were forty-five thousand and six hundred.	These are the sons of Benjamin according to their clans, and those listed were 45,600.	These were the clans of Benjamin; those numbered were 45,600.
42	These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shuham, the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan after their families.	These are the sons of Dan according to their clans: of Shuham, the clan of the Shuhamites. These are the clans of Dan according to their clans.	These were the descendants of Dan by their clans: through Shuham, the Shuhamite clan. These were the clans of Dan:
43	All the families of the Shuhamites, according to those that were numbered of them, were sixty-four thousand and four hundred.	All the clans of the Shuhamites, as they were listed, were 64,400.	All of them were Shuhamite clans; and those numbered were 64,400.
44	The sons of Asher by their families: of Jimna, the family of the Jimnites; of Jesui, the family of the Jesuites; of Beriah, the family of the Berites.	The sons of Asher according to their clans: of Imnah, the clan of the Imnites; of Ishvi, the clan of the Ishvites; of Beriah, the clan of the Beriites.	The descendants of Asher by their clans were: through Imnah, the Imnite clan; through Ishvi, the Ishvite clan; through Beriah, the Beriite clan;
45	The sons of Beriah: of Heber, the family of the Heberites; of Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites. 46	And the name of the daughter of Asher was Sarah.	And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serah.	(Asher had a daughter named Serah.)

48	The sops of Naphtali after their families: Nahzeel, the family of the Nahzeelites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites;	The sons of Naphtali according to their clans: of Jahzeel, the clan of the Jahzeelites; of Guni, the clan of the Gunites;	The descendants of Naphtali by their clans were: through Jahzeel, the Jahzeelite clan; through Guni, the Gunite clan;

51	These were the numbers of the children of Israel, six hundred and one thousand, seven hundred and thirty.	This was the list of the people of Israel, 601,730.	The total number of the men of Israel was 601,730.

53	To these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.	“Among these the land shall be divided for inheritance according to the number of names.	“The land is to be allotted to them as an inheritance based on the number of names.
54	To a large family you shall give a large inheritance and to a small family you shall give a small inheritance; every one shall receive his inheritance according to those that were numbered of him.	To a large tribe you shall give a large inheritance, and to a small tribe you shall give a small inheritance; every tribe shall be given its inheritance in proportion to its list.	To a larger group give a larger inheritance, and to a smaller group a smaller one; each is to receive its inheritance according to the number of those listed.
55	Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lots; according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.	But the land shall be divided by lot. According to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.	Be sure that the land is distributed by lot. What each group inherits will be according to the names for its ancestral tribe.
56	According to the lots shall their inheritance be divided between the larger families and the smaller families.	Their inheritance shall be divided according to lot between the larger and the smaller.”	Each inheritance is to be distributed by lot among the larger and smaller groups.”
57	These are they that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.	This was the list of the Levites according to their clans: of Gershon, the clan of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the clan of the Kohathites; of Merari, the clan of the Merarites.	These were the Levites who were counted by their clans: through Gershon, the Gershonite clan; through Kohath, the Kohathite clan; through Merari, the Merarite clan.
58	These are the families of the Levites: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korathites. And Kohath begat Amram.	These are the clans of Levi: the clan of the Libnites, the clan of the Hebronites, the clan of the Mahlites, the clan of the Mushites, the clan of the Korahites. And Kohath was the father of Amram.	These also were Levite clans: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan, the Korahite clan. (Kohath was the forefather of Amram;
59	And the name of Amram's wife was Jochaber, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt: and she bore to Amram, Aaron and Moses and their sister Miriam.	The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt. And she bore to Amram Aaron and Moses and Miriam their sister.	the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, a descendant of Levi, who was born to the Levites in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron, Moses and their sister Miriam.
60	And to Aaron were born Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.	And to Aaron were born Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.	Aaron was the father of Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61	But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before the LORD.	But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD.	But Nadab and Abihu died when they made an offering before the LORD with unauthorized fire.)
62	And those that were numbered of them were twenty-three thousand, all males from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.	And those listed were 23,000, every male from a month old and upward. For they were not listed among the people of Israel, because there was no inheritance given to them among the people of Israel.	All the male Levites a month old or more numbered 23,000. They were not counted along with the other Israelites because they received no inheritance among them.
63	These are those that were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan near Jericho.	These were those listed by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who listed the people of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.	These are the ones counted by Moses and Eleazar the priest when they counted the Israelites on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.
64	But among these there was not a man of those whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.	But among these there was not one of those listed by Moses and Aaron the priest, who had listed the people of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.	Not one of them was among those counted by Moses and Aaron the priest when they counted the Israelites in the Desert of Sinai.
65	For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them except Caleb the son of Jophaniah and Joshua the son of Nun.	For the LORD had said of them, “They shall die in the wilderness.” Not one of them was left, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.	For the LORD had told those Israelites they would surely die in the wilderness, and not one of them was left except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
