3	Moses therefore and Eleazar the priest, being in the plains of Moab upon the Jordan over against Jericho, spoke to them that were	And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,	So on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them and said,
4	From twenty years old and upward, as the Lord had commanded: and this is the number of them:	“Take a census of the people, from twenty years old and upward,” as the LORD commanded Moses. The people of Israel who came out of the land of Egypt were:	“Take a census of the men twenty years old or more, as the LORD commanded Moses.” These were the Israelites who came out of Egypt:
5	Ruben the firstborn of Israel. His sons were Henoch, of whom is the family of the Henochites: and Phallu, of whom is the family of the Phalluites:	Reuben, the firstborn of Israel; the sons of Reuben: of Hanoch, the clan of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the clan of the Palluites;	The descendants of Reuben, the firstborn son of Israel, were: through Hanok, the Hanokite clan; through Pallu, the Palluite clan;
6	And Hesron, of whom is the family of the Hesronites: and Charmi, of whom is the family of the Charmites.	of Hezron, the clan of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the clan of the Carmites.	through Hezron, the Hezronite clan; through Karmi, the Karmite clan.
7	These are the families of the stock of Ruben: whose number was found to be forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty.	These are the clans of the Reubenites, and those listed were 43,730.	These were the clans of Reuben; those numbered were 43,730.
8	The son of Phallu was Eliab.	And the sons of Pallu: Eliab.	The son of Pallu was Eliab,
9	His sons, were Namuel and Dathan and Abiron. These are Dathan and Abiron the princes of the people, that rose against Moses and Aaron in the sedition of Core, when they rebelled against the Lord:	The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram. These are the Dathan and Abiram, chosen from the congregation, who contended against Moses and Aaron in the company of Korah, when they contended against the LORD	and the sons of Eliab were Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. The same Dathan and Abiram were the community officials who rebelled against Moses and Aaron and were among Korah’s followers when they rebelled against the LORD.
10	And the earth opening her mouth swallowed up Core, many others dying, when the fire burned two hundred and fifty men. And there was a great miracle wrought,	and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, when the fire devoured 250 men, and they became a warning.	The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them along with Korah, whose followers died when the fire devoured the 250 men. And they served as a warning sign.
11	That when Core perished, his sons did not perish.	But the sons of Korah did not die.	The line of Korah, however, did not die out.
12	The sons of Simeon by their kindreds: Namuel, of him is the family of the Namuelites: Jamin, of him is the family of the Jaminites: Jachin, of him is the family of the Jachinites:	The sons of Simeon according to their clans: of Nemuel, the clan of the Nemuelites; of Jamin, the clan of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the clan of the Jachinites;	The descendants of Simeon by their clans were: through Nemuel, the Nemuelite clan; through Jamin, the Jaminite clan; through Jakin, the Jakinite clan;

19	The sons of Juda, Her and Onan, who both died in the land of Chanaan.	The sons of Judah were Er and Onan; and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.	Er and Onan were sons of Judah, but they died in Canaan.
20	And the sons of Juda by their kindreds were: Sela, of whom is the family of the Selaites: Phares, of whom is the family of the Pharesites: Zare, of whom is the family of the Zarites.	And the sons of Judah according to their clans were: of Shelah, the clan of the Shelanites; of Perez, the clan of the Perezites; of Zerah, the clan of the Zerahites.	The descendants of Judah by their clans were: through Shelah, the Shelanite clan; through Perez, the Perezite clan; through Zerah, the Zerahite clan.
21	Moreover the sons of Phares were: Hesron, of whom is the family of the Hesronites: and Hamul, of whom is the family of the Hamulites.	And the sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the clan of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the clan of the Hamulites.	The descendants of Perez were: through Hezron, the Hezronite clan; through Hamul, the Hamulite clan.
22	These are the families of Juda, of which the whole number was seventy-six thousand five hundred.	These are the clans of Judah as they were listed, 76,500.	These were the clans of Judah; those numbered were 76,500.
23	The sons of Issachar, by their kindreds: Thola, of whom is the family of the Tholaites: Phua, of whom is the family of the Phuaites:	The sons of Issachar according to their clans: of Tola, the clan of the Tolaites; of Puvah, the clan of the Punites;	The descendants of Issachar by their clans were: through Tola, the Tolaite clan; through Puah, the Puite clan;
24	Jasub, of whom is the family of the Jasubites: Semran, of whom is the family of the Semranites.	of Jashub, the clan of the Jashubites; of Shimron, the clan of the Shimronites.	through Jashub, the Jashubite clan; through Shimron, the Shimronite clan.
25	These are the kindreds of Issachar, whose number was sixty-four thousand three hundred.	These are the clans of Issachar as they were listed, 64,300.	These were the clans of Issachar; those numbered were 64,300.
26	The sons of Zabulon by their kindreds: Sared, of whom is the family of the Saredites: Elon, of whom is the family of the Elonites: Jalel, of whom is the family of the Jalelites.	The sons of Zebulun, according to their clans: of Sered, the clan of the Seredites; of Elon, the clan of the Elonites; of Jahleel, the clan of the Jahleelites.	The descendants of Zebulun by their clans were: through Sered, the Seredite clan; through Elon, the Elonite clan; through Jahleel, the Jahleelite clan.
27	These are the kindreds of Zabulon, whose number was sixty thousand five hundred.	These are the clans of the Zebulunites as they were listed, 60,500.	These were the clans of Zebulun; those numbered were 60,500.
28	The sons of Joseph by their kindred, Manasses and Ephraim.	The sons of Joseph according to their clans: Manasseh and Ephraim.	The descendants of Joseph by their clans through Manasseh and Ephraim were:
29	Of Manasses was born Machir, of whom is the family of the Machirites. Machir beget Galaad, of whom is the family of the Galaadites.	The sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the clan of the Machirites; and Machir was the father of Gilead; of Gilead, the clan of the Gileadites.	The descendants of Manasseh: through Makir, the Makirite clan (Makir was the father of Gilead); through Gilead, the Gileadite clan.
30	Galaad had sons: Jezer, of whom is the family of the Jezerites: and Helec, of whom is the family of the Helecites:	These are the sons of Gilead: of Iezer, the clan of the Iezerites; of Helek, the clan of the Helekites;	These were the descendants of Gilead: through Iezer, the Iezerite clan; through Helek, the Helekite clan;
31	And Asriel, of whom is the family of the Asrielites: and Sechem, of whom is the family of the Sechemites:	and of Asriel, the clan of the Asrielites; and of Shechem, the clan of the Shechemites;	through Asriel, the Asrielite clan; through Shechem, the Shechemite clan;
32	And Semida, of whom is the family of the Semidaites: and Hepher, of whom is the family of the Hepherites.	and of Shemida, the clan of the Shemidaites; and of Hepher, the clan of the Hepherites.	through Shemida, the Shemidaite clan; through Hepher, the Hepherite clan.
33	And Hepher was the father of Salphaad, who had no sons, but only daughters, whose names are these: Maala, and Noa, and Hegla, and Melcha, and Thersa.	Now Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters. And the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.	(Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons; he had only daughters, whose names were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirzah.)
34	These are the families of Manasses, and the number of them fifty-two thousand seven hundred.	These are the clans of Manasseh, and those listed were 52,700.	These were the clans of Manasseh; those numbered were 52,700.
35	And the sons of Ephraim by their kindreds were these: Suthala, of whom is the family of the Suthalaites: Becher, of whom is the family of the Becherites: Thehen, of whom is the family of the Thehenites.	These are the sons of Ephraim according to their clans: of Shuthelah, the clan of the Shuthelahites; of Becher, the clan of the Becherites; of Tahan, the clan of the Tahanites.	These were the descendants of Ephraim by their clans: through Shuthelah, the Shuthelahite clan; through Beker, the Bekerite clan; through Tahan, the Tahanite clan.
36	Now the son of Suthala was Heran, of whom is the family of the Heranites.	And these are the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the clan of the Eranites.	These were the descendants of Shuthelah: through Eran, the Eranite clan.
37	These are the kindreds of the sons of Ephraim: whose number was thirty-two thousand five hundred.	These are the clans of the sons of Ephraim as they were listed, 32,500. These are the sons of Joseph according to their clans.	These were the clans of Ephraim; those numbered were 32,500. These were the descendants of Joseph by their clans.
38	These are the sons of Joseph by their families. The sons of Benjamin in their kindreds: Bela, of whom is the family of the Belaites: Asbel, of whom is the family of the Asbelites: Ahiram, of whom is the family of the Ahiramites:	The sons of Benjamin according to their clans: of Bela, the clan of the Belaites; of Ashbel, the clan of the Ashbelites; of Ahiram, the clan of the Ahiramites;	The descendants of Benjamin by their clans were: through Bela, the Belaite clan; through Ashbel, the Ashbelite clan; through Ahiram, the Ahiramite clan;
39	Supham, of whom is the family of the Suphamites: Hupham, of whom is the family of the Huphamites.	of Shephupham, the clan of the Shuphamites; of Hupham, the clan of the Huphamites.	through Shupham, the Shuphamite clan; through Hupham, the Huphamite clan.
40	The sons of Bela: Hered, and Noeman. Of Hered, is the family of the Heredites: of Noeman, the family of tile Noemanites.	And the sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman: of Ard, the clan of the Ardites; of Naaman, the clan of the Naamites.	The descendants of Bela through Ard and Naaman were: through Ard, the Ardite clan; through Naaman, the Naamite clan.
41	These are the sons of Benjamin by their kindreds, whose number was forty- five thousand six hundred.	These are the sons of Benjamin according to their clans, and those listed were 45,600.	These were the clans of Benjamin; those numbered were 45,600.
42	The sons of Dan by their kindreds: Suham, of whom is the family of the Suhamites: These are the kindreds of Dan by their families.	These are the sons of Dan according to their clans: of Shuham, the clan of the Shuhamites. These are the clans of Dan according to their clans.	These were the descendants of Dan by their clans: through Shuham, the Shuhamite clan. These were the clans of Dan:
43	All were Suhamites, whose number was sixty-four thousand four hundred.	All the clans of the Shuhamites, as they were listed, were 64,400.	All of them were Shuhamite clans; and those numbered were 64,400.
44	The sons of Aser by their kindreds: Jemna, of whom is the family of the Jemnaites: Jessui, of whom is the family of the Jessuites: Brie, of whom is the family of the Brieites.	The sons of Asher according to their clans: of Imnah, the clan of the Imnites; of Ishvi, the clan of the Ishvites; of Beriah, the clan of the Beriites.	The descendants of Asher by their clans were: through Imnah, the Imnite clan; through Ishvi, the Ishvite clan; through Beriah, the Beriite clan;
45	The sons of Brie: Heber, of whom is the family of the Heberites: and Melchiel, of whom is the family of the Melchielites.	Of the sons of Beriah: of Heber, the clan of the Heberites; of Malchiel, the clan of the Malchielites.	and through the descendants of Beriah: through Heber, the Heberite clan; through Malkiel, the Malkielite clan.
46	And the name of the daughter of Aser, was Sara.	And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serah.	(Asher had a daughter named Serah.)
47	These are the kindreds of the sons of Aser, and their number fifty-three thousand four hundred.	These are the clans of the sons of Asher as they were listed, 53,400.	These were the clans of Asher; those numbered were 53,400.
48	The sons of Nephtali by their kindreds: Jesiel, of whom is the family of the Jesielites: Guni, of whom is the family of the Gunites:	The sons of Naphtali according to their clans: of Jahzeel, the clan of the Jahzeelites; of Guni, the clan of the Gunites;	The descendants of Naphtali by their clans were: through Jahzeel, the Jahzeelite clan; through Guni, the Gunite clan;
49	Jeser, of whom is the family of the Jeserites: Sellem, of whom is the family of the Sellemites.	of Jezer, the clan of the Jezerites; of Shillem, the clan of the Shillemites.	through Jezer, the Jezerite clan; through Shillem, the Shillemite clan.

51	This is the sum of the children of Israel, that were reckoned up, six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirty.	This was the list of the people of Israel, 601,730.	The total number of the men of Israel was 601,730.
52	And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,	The LORD said to Moses,
53	To these shall the land be divided for their possessions according to the number of names.	“Among these the land shall be divided for inheritance according to the number of names.	“The land is to be allotted to them as an inheritance based on the number of names.
54	To the greater number thou shalt give a greater portion, and to the fewer a less: to every one, as they have now been reckoned up, shall a possession be delivered :	To a large tribe you shall give a large inheritance, and to a small tribe you shall give a small inheritance; every tribe shall be given its inheritance in proportion to its list.	To a larger group give a larger inheritance, and to a smaller group a smaller one; each is to receive its inheritance according to the number of those listed.
55	Yet so that by lot the land be divided to the tribe and families.	But the land shall be divided by lot. According to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.	Be sure that the land is distributed by lot. What each group inherits will be according to the names for its ancestral tribe.
56	Whatsoever shall fall by lot, that shall be taken by the more, or the fewer.	Their inheritance shall be divided according to lot between the larger and the smaller.”	Each inheritance is to be distributed by lot among the larger and smaller groups.”
57	This also is the number of the sons of Levi by their families: Gerson, of whom is the family of the Gersonites: Caath, of whom is the family of the Caathites: Merari, of whom is the family of the Merarites.	This was the list of the Levites according to their clans: of Gershon, the clan of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the clan of the Kohathites; of Merari, the clan of the Merarites.	These were the Levites who were counted by their clans: through Gershon, the Gershonite clan; through Kohath, the Kohathite clan; through Merari, the Merarite clan.
58	These are the families of Levi: The family of Lobni, the family of Hebroni, the family of Moholi, the family of Musi, the family of Core. Now Caath beget Amram :	These are the clans of Levi: the clan of the Libnites, the clan of the Hebronites, the clan of the Mahlites, the clan of the Mushites, the clan of the Korahites. And Kohath was the father of Amram.	These also were Levite clans: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan, the Korahite clan. (Kohath was the forefather of Amram;
59	Who had to wife Jochabed the daughter of Levi, who was horn to him in Egypt. She bore to her husband Amram sons, Aaron and Moses, and Mary their sister.	The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt. And she bore to Amram Aaron and Moses and Miriam their sister.	the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, a descendant of Levi, who was born to the Levites in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron, Moses and their sister Miriam.
60	Of Aaron were born Nadab and Abiu, and Eleazar and Ithamar:	And to Aaron were born Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.	Aaron was the father of Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61	Of whom Nadab and Abiu died, when they had offered the strange fire before the Lord.	But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD.	But Nadab and Abihu died when they made an offering before the LORD with unauthorized fire.)
62	And all that were numbered, were twenty-three thousand males from one month old and upward: for they were not reckoned up among the children of Israel, neither was a possession given to them with the rest.	And those listed were 23,000, every male from a month old and upward. For they were not listed among the people of Israel, because there was no inheritance given to them among the people of Israel.	All the male Levites a month old or more numbered 23,000. They were not counted along with the other Israelites because they received no inheritance among them.
63	This is the number of the children of Israel, that were enrolled by Moses and Eleazar the priest, in the plains of Moab upon the Jordan, over against Jericho.	These were those listed by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who listed the people of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.	These are the ones counted by Moses and Eleazar the priest when they counted the Israelites on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.
64	Among whom there was not one of them that were numbered before by Moses and Aaron in the desert of Sinai.	But among these there was not one of those listed by Moses and Aaron the priest, who had listed the people of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.	Not one of them was among those counted by Moses and Aaron the priest when they counted the Israelites in the Desert of Sinai.
65	For the Lord had foretold that they should die in the wilderness. And none remained of them, but Caleb the son of Jephone, and Josue the son of Nun.	For the LORD had said of them, “They shall die in the wilderness.” Not one of them was left, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.	For the LORD had told those Israelites they would surely die in the wilderness, and not one of them was left except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
