4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying, This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Tell the daughter of Zion, behold, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’” “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”
6 The disciples went and did just as Jesus commanded them, The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
7 and brought the donkey and the colt and laid their clothes on them; and he sat on them. They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.
8 A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 10 When he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
11 The multitudes said, “This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.” And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.” The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
12 Jesus entered into the temple of God and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables and the seats of those who sold the doves. And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.
13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers!” He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.” “It is written,” he said to them, “’My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”
14 The lame and the blind came to him in the temple, and he healed them. And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.
15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the son of David!” they were indignant, But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant, But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.
16 and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Did you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of children and nursing babies, you have perfected praise?’” and they said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read, “‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise’?” “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “’From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?”
