1 Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray at all times and not lose heart: And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. And he spake a parable unto them <i>to this end</i>, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not become discouraged, Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
2 “ In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected men. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect <i>any</i> person. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought.
3 And there was a widow in that town who kept appealing to him, ‘Give me justice against my adversary. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. Now there was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me justice against my opponent.’ And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
4 For a while he refused, but later he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect men, For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; For a while he was unwilling; but later he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect <i>any</i> person, “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think,
5 yet because this widow keeps pestering me, I will give her justice. Then she will stop wearing me out with her perpetual requests. yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. yet because this widow is bothering me, I will give her justice; otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’” yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
6 And the Lord said, “Listen to the words of the unjust judge. And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge said; And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.
7 Will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He continue to defer their help? And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? now, will God not bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night, and will He delay long for them? And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
8 I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

12 I fast twice a week and pay tithes of all that I acquire. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
13 But the tax collector stood at a distance, unwilling even to lift up his eyes to heaven. Instead, he beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner! But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as <i>his</i> eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to raise his eyes toward heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 I tell you, this man, rather than the Pharisee, went home justified. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” I tell you, this man went down to his house justified <i>rather</i> than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other one; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
15 Now people were even bringing their babies to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them. And when the disciples saw this, they rebuked those who brought them. Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when <i>his</i> disciples saw <i>it</i>, they rebuked them. Now they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them; but when the disciples saw <i>it,</i> they <i>began</i> rebuking them. 16 But Jesus called the children to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. But Jesus called them <i>unto him</i>, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. But Jesus called for the little ones, saying, “Allow the children to come to Me, and do not forbid them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
17 Truly I tell you, anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
18 Then a certain ruler asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? And a ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? A ruler questioned Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
19 “Why do you call Me good? Jesus replied. “No one is good except God alone. And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none <i>is</i> good, save one, <i>that is</i>, God. But Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.
20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor your father and mother.’ You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.’” Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. You know the commandments, ‘DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT GIVE FALSE TESTIMONY, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.’” You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’”
21 “All these I have kept from my youth, he said. And he said, “All these I have kept from my youth.” And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. And he said, “All these things I have kept since <i>my</i> youth.” “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
22 On hearing this, Jesus told him, “You still lack one thing: Sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me. When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. Now when Jesus heard <i>this,</i> He said to him, “One thing you still lack; sell all that you possess and distribute <i>the money</i> to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
23 But when the ruler heard this, he became very sad, because he was extremely wealthy. But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. 24 Seeing the man’s sadness, Jesus said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. 26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved? Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” And they that heard <i>it</i> said, Who then can be saved? Those who heard <i>Him</i> said, “And <i>so</i> who can be saved?” Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”
27 But Jesus said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God. But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.” Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
28 “Look, said Peter, “we have left all we had to follow You. And Peter said, “See, we have left our homes and followed you.” Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. Peter said, “Behold, we have left our own homes and followed You.” Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”
29 “Truly I tell you, Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, And He said to them, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God, “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God

31 Then Jesus took the Twelve aside and said to them, “Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything the prophets have written about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. Then he took <i>unto him</i> the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. Now He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that have been written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished. 32 He will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon. 33 They will flog Him and kill Him, and on the third day He will rise again. And after flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise.” And they shall scourge <i>him</i>, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. and after they have flogged Him, they will kill Him; and on the third day He will rise.” they will flog him and kill him. 34 But the disciples did not understand any of these things. The meaning was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend what He was saying. But they understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said. And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken. The disciples understood none of these things, and <i>the meaning of</i> this statement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said. The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.
35 As Jesus drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting beside the road, begging. As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 40 Jesus stopped and directed that the man be brought to Him. When he had been brought near, Jesus asked him, And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. 41 “What do you want Me to do for you? “Lord, he said, “let me see again. “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me recover my sight.” Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. “What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, <i>I want</i> to regain my sight!” “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
42 “Receive your sight! Jesus replied. “Your faith has healed you. And Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.” And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And Jesus said to him, “Regain your sight; your faith has made you well.” Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”
43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, glorifying God. And all the people who saw this gave praise to God. And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw <i>it</i>, gave praise unto God. And immediately he regained his sight and <i>began</i> following Him, glorifying God; and when all the people saw <i>it,</i> they gave praise to God.
