1 And Elihu will add and say, And Elihu continued, and said: Elihu continued:
2 Wait for me a little, and I will show thee, for yet words for God. “Bear with me a little, and I will show you, for I have yet something to say on God’s behalf. “Bear with me a little longer and I will show you that there is more to be said in God’s behalf.
3 I will lift up my knowledge from far off, and to him making me, I will give justice. I will get my knowledge from afar and ascribe righteousness to my Maker. I get my knowledge from afar; I will ascribe justice to my Maker.
4 For truly my words are not falsehood: the perfect of knowledge with thee. For truly my words are not false; one who is perfect in knowledge is with you. Be assured that my words are not false; one who has perfect knowledge is with you.
5 Behold, God is mighty, and he will not despise: mighty in strength of heart. “Behold, God is mighty, and does not despise any; he is mighty in strength of understanding. “God is mighty, but despises no one; he is mighty, and firm in his purpose.
6 He will not save alive the unjust one, and he will give the judgment of the poor. He does not keep the wicked alive, but gives the afflicted their right. He does not keep the wicked alive but gives the afflicted their rights.
7 He will not take off his eyes from the just: and with kings upon the throne, and he will seat them for glory, and they shall be exalted. He does not withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne he sets them forever, and they are exalted. He does not take his eyes off the righteous; he enthrones them with kings and exalts them forever.
8 And they being bound in fetters shall be taken in the cords of affliction. And if they are bound in chains and caught in the cords of affliction, But if people are bound in chains, held fast by cords of affliction,
9 And he will announce to them their work, and their transgressions, for they will be strong. then he declares to them their work and their transgressions, that they are behaving arrogantly. he tells them what they have done— that they have sinned arrogantly.
10 And he will uncover their ear for instruction, and he will say that they shall turn back from iniquity. He opens their ears to instruction and commands that they return from iniquity. He makes them listen to correction and commands them to repent of their evil.
11 If they will hear and will serve him, they shall finish their days in good, and their years in delights. If they listen and serve him, they complete their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasantness. If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment.
12 And if they will not hear, they shall pass away by the spear, and they shall expire without knowledge. But if they do not listen, they perish by the sword and die without knowledge. But if they do not listen, they will perish by the sword and die without knowledge.
13 And the profane of heart shall set up anger: they will not cry if he bound them. “The godless in heart cherish anger; they do not cry for help when he binds them. “The godless in heart harbor resentment; even when he fetters them, they do not cry for help.
14 Their soul will die in youth, and their life among the consecrated. They die in youth, and their life ends among the cult prostitutes. They die in their youth, among male prostitutes of the shrines.
15 He will deliver the poor one in his affliction, and he will uncover their ear in oppression. He delivers the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ear by adversity. But those who suffer he delivers in their suffering; he speaks to them in their affliction.
16 And also he moved thee from the mouth of the enemy to a broad, not straight place; and thy table came down full of fatness. He also allured you out of distress into a broad place where there was no cramping, and what was set on your table was full of fatness. “He is wooing you from the jaws of distress to a spacious place free from restriction, to the comfort of your table laden with choice food.
17 And thou didst fill up the judgment of the unjust one; judgment and right shall hold together. “But you are full of the judgment on the wicked; judgment and justice seize you. But now you are laden with the judgment due the wicked; judgment and justice have taken hold of you.
18 Because of wrath, lest he shall remove thee with smiting, and a multitude of covering shall not turn thee away. Beware lest wrath entice you into scoffing, and let not the greatness of the ransom turn you aside. Be careful that no one entices you by riches; do not let a large bribe turn you aside.
19 Will he value thy riches? not gold and all the powers of thy strength. Will your cry for help avail to keep you from distress, or all the force of your strength? Would your wealth or even all your mighty efforts sustain you so you would not be in distress?
20 Thou shalt not pant after the night, for taking up peoples in their place. Do not long for the night, when peoples vanish in their place. Do not long for the night, to drag people away from their homes.
21 Watch thyself; thou shalt not turn to iniquity: for upon this thou didst choose rather than affliction. Take care; do not turn to iniquity, for this you have chosen rather than affliction. Beware of turning to evil, which you seem to prefer to affliction.
22 Behold, God will exalt by his power: who teaches like him? Behold, God is exalted in his power; who is a teacher like him? “God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?
23 Who charged upon him his way? and who said, Thou didst iniquity? Who has prescribed for him his way, or who can say, ‘You have done wrong’? Who has prescribed his ways for him, or said to him, ‘You have done wrong’?
24 Remember that thou shalt magnify his work which men beheld. “Remember to extol his work, of which men have sung. Remember to extol his work, which people have praised in song.
25 Every man looked upon it; man shall see from far off. All mankind has looked on it; man beholds it from afar. All humanity has seen it; mortals gaze on it from afar.
26 Behold, God is great, and we shall not know the number of his years, and it was not searched out. Behold, God is great, and we know him not; the number of his years is unsearchable. How great is God—beyond our understanding! The number of his years is past finding out.
27 For he will withhold the drops of water: they will pour out rain for its vapor. For he draws up the drops of water; they distill his mist in rain, “He draws up the drops of water, which distill as rain to the streams;
28 Which the clouds will shake out; they will drop an abundance upon man. which the skies pour down and drop on mankind abundantly. the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind.
29 Also if he shall understand the spreadings of the cloud, the noise of his booth. Can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds, the thunderings of his pavilion? Who can understand how he spreads out the clouds, how he thunders from his pavilion?
30 Behold, he spread upon it his light, and he covered the roots of the sea. Behold, he scatters his lightning about him and covers the roots of the sea. See how he scatters his lightning about him, bathing the depths of the sea.
31 For by them he will judge the peoples; he will give food to abundance. For by these he judges peoples; he gives food in abundance. This is the way he governs the nations and provides food in abundance.
32 With the hands be covered the light; and he commanded concerning it with a mark. He covers his hands with the lightning and commands it to strike the mark. He fills his hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark.
33 His thunder will announce concerning him, and the flock also concerning the going up. Its crashing declares his presence; the cattle also declare that he rises. His thunder announces the coming storm; even the cattle make known its approach.
