1 And Job will add to take up his parable, and say, And Job again took up his discourse, and said: And Job continued his discourse:
2 God lives, he removed my judgment; and the Almighty embittered my soul; “As God lives, who has taken away my right, and the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter, “As surely as God lives, who has denied me justice, the Almighty, who has made my life bitter,
3 For all the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God in my nose; as long as my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils, as long as I have life within me, the breath of God in my nostrils,
4 If my lips shall speak iniquity, and my tongue if it shall murmur deceit. my lips will not speak falsehood, and my tongue will not utter deceit. my lips will not say anything wicked, and my tongue will not utter lies.
5 Far be it to me if I shall justify you: till I expire I will not remove my integrity from me. Far be it from me to say that you are right; till I die I will not put away my integrity from me. I will never admit you are in the right; till I die, I will not deny my integrity.
6 My justice I held fast, and I will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach from my days. I hold fast my righteousness and will not let it go; my heart does not reproach me for any of my days. I will maintain my innocence and never let go of it; my conscience will not reproach me as long as I live.
7 Mine enemy shall be as the unjust one, and he rising up against me, as the evil one. “Let my enemy be as the wicked, and let him who rises up against me be as the unrighteous. “May my enemy be like the wicked, my adversary like the unjust!
8 For what the hope of the profane one if he shall plunder? for God shall draw out his soul. For what is the hope of the godless when God cuts him off, when God takes away his life? For what hope have the godless when they are cut off, when God takes away their life?
9 Will God hear his cry when straits shall come upon him? Will God hear his cry when distress comes upon him? Does God listen to their cry when distress comes upon them?
10 If he will delight himself upon the Almighty? will he call upon God in all time? Will he take delight in the Almighty? Will he call upon God at all times? Will they find delight in the Almighty? Will they call on God at all times?
11 I will teach you by the hand of God: what is with the Almighty I will not hide. I will teach you concerning the hand of God; what is with the Almighty I will not conceal. “I will teach you about the power of God; the ways of the Almighty I will not conceal.
12 Behold, all ye yourselves saw; and wherefore this, will ye breathe out vanity? Behold, all of you have seen it yourselves; why then have you become altogether vain? You have all seen this yourselves. Why then this meaningless talk?
13 This the portion of an unjust man with God, and the inheritance of the terrible they shall take from the Almighty. “This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage that oppressors receive from the Almighty: “Here is the fate God allots to the wicked, the heritage a ruthless man receives from the Almighty:
14 If his sons shall be multiplied, for then the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword, and his descendants have not enough bread. However many his children, their fate is the sword; his offspring will never have enough to eat.
15 His surviving one shall be buried in death, and his widows shall not weep. Those who survive him the pestilence buries, and his widows do not weep. The plague will bury those who survive him, and their widows will not weep for them.
16 If he shall heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as clay; Though he heap up silver like dust, and pile up clothing like clay, Though he heaps up silver like dust and clothes like piles of clay,
17 He shall prepare, and the just shall put on, and the innocent shall divide the silver. he may pile it up, but the righteous will wear it, and the innocent will divide the silver. what he lays up the righteous will wear, and the innocent will divide his silver.
18 He built his house as the moth, and as a booth he watching made. He builds his house like a moth’s, like a booth that a watchman makes. The house he builds is like a moth’s cocoon, like a hut made by a watchman.
19 The rich one shall lie down, and he shall not be gathered: he opened his eyes, and he is not. He goes to bed rich, but will do so no more; he opens his eyes, and his wealth is gone. He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more; when he opens his eyes, all is gone.
20 Terrors shall hedge him about as waters, the night a tempest stole him away. Terrors overtake him like a flood; in the night a whirlwind carries him off. Terrors overtake him like a flood; a tempest snatches him away in the night.
21 The east wind shall lift him up, and he shall go: and it shall sweep him away in storm from his place. The east wind lifts him up and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place. The east wind carries him off, and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place.
22 For he shall cast upon him and not spare: fleeing, he will flee from his hand. It hurls at him without pity; he flees from its power in headlong flight. It hurls itself against him without mercy as he flees headlong from its power.
23 It shall be clapped upon him with their hands, and it shall be hissed upon him from his place. It claps its hands at him and hisses at him from its place. It claps its hands in derision and hisses him out of his place.”
