1 Bel kneels down, Nebo bends low. Their images weigh down animals and beasts. Your heavy images are burdensome to tired animals. Bel bows down; Nebo stoops; their idols are on beasts and livestock; these things you carry are borne as burdens on weary beasts. Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low; their idols are borne by beasts of burden. The images that are carried about are burdensome, a burden for the weary.
2 Together they bend low and kneel down; they are unable to rescue the images; they themselves head off into captivity. They stoop; they bow down together; they cannot save the burden, but themselves go into captivity. 12 Listen to me, you stubborn people, you who distance yourself from doing what is right. “Listen to me, you stubborn of heart, you who are far from righteousness: Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are now far from my righteousness.
13 I am bringing my deliverance near, it is not far away; I am bringing my salvation near, it does not wait. I will save Zion; I will adorn Israel with my splendor.| I bring near my righteousness; it is not far off, and my salvation will not delay; I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel my glory.” I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendor to Israel.
