Every commandment that I command you today, you⁺ must be careful to do, so that you⁺ may live and multiply and go in and possess the land that YHWH has sworn to your⁺ fathers. “The whole commandment that I command you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that the LORD swore to give to your fathers. Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land the LORD promised on oath to your ancestors.
And you shall remember the whole way that YHWH your God led you this forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.
And He humbled you and allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, so that He might make you know that the man shall not live by bread alone; but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of YHWH the man shall live. And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
Your garments did not wear out from you, and your foot did not swell this forty years. Your clothing did not wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.
And you shall know in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, YHWH your God disciplines you. Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the LORD your God disciplines you. Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.
And you shall keep the commandments of YHWH your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. So you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him. Observe the commands of the LORD your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him.
For YHWH your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs flowing out of valleys and hills; For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing out in the valleys and hills, For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills;
a land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey; a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey, a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey;
a land in which without scarcity you will eat bread; you will not lack any in it; a land whose stones are iron, and from the hills you can dig copper. a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper. a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.
And you will eat and be satisfied; and you will bless YHWH your God for the good land that He has given you. And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.
Take heed to it that you do not forget YHWH your God, by not keeping His commandments and His ordinances and His statutes, which I command you today— “Take care lest you forget the LORD your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today, Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.
lest you eat and be satisfied and build and inhabit beautiful houses; lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them, Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down,
and your herd and your flock multiply, and your silver and your gold multiply to you, and all that is to you is multiplied; and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied,
and your heart is lifted up, and you forget YHWH your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery; then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
who led you in the great and the terrible wilderness, with fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the rock of flint; who led you through the great and terrifying wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock, He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock.
who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, so that He might humble you, that He might test you, to do you good in the end; who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end. He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.
and you say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.” Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.”
And you shall remember YHWH your God, for He gives you power to gain wealth, that He may establish His covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.
And it shall come to pass, if you ever forget YHWH your God and follow after other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you⁺ this day that you⁺ will surely perish. And if you forget the LORD your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish. If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed.
As the nations that YHWH destroys before you⁺, so you⁺ shall perish, because you⁺ would not listen to the voice of YHWH your⁺ God. Like the nations that the LORD makes to perish before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God. Like the nations the LORD destroyed before you, so you will be destroyed for not obeying the LORD your God.
