And the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons, Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
speaking lies in hypocrisy, being seared in their own conscience, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
forbidding to marry—to abstain from meats that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those believing and acknowledging the truth, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.
because every creature of God [is] good, and nothing [is] to be rejected, with thanksgiving being received, For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
for it is sanctified through the word of God and intercession. for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.
Placing these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Jesus Christ, being nourished by the words of the faith, and of the good teaching, which you followed after, If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed. If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.
but reject the profane and old women’s fables, and exercise yourself to piety, Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.
for bodily exercise is to little profit, but piety is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is coming; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
the word [is] steadfast, and worthy of all acceptance; The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance.
for this we both labor and are reproached, because we hope on the living God, who is Savior of all men—especially of those believing. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
Charge these things, and teach; Command and teach these things. Command and teach these things.
let no one despise your youth, but become a pattern of those believing in word, in behavior, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity; Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
until I come, give heed to the reading, to the exhortation, to the teaching; Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.
do not be careless of the gift in you, that was given you through prophecy, with laying on of the hands of the eldership; Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.
be careful of these things; be in these things, that your advancement may be evident in all things; Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.
take heed to yourself and to the teaching; remain in them, for doing this thing, you will save both yourself and those hearing you. Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
