Then David (beloved) said to Ornan (light was perpetuated), “Grant me the site of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar to the LORD {YHWH}. Sell it to me for the full price, so that the plague upon the people may be halted.” | And David said to Ornan, “Give me the site of the threshing floor that I may build on it an altar to the LORD—give it to me at its full price—that the plague may be averted from the people.” | David said to him, “Let me have the site of your threshing floor so I can build an altar to the LORD, that the plague on the people may be stopped. Sell it to me at the full price.” |
Ornan (light was perpetuated) said to David (beloved), “Take it! May my lord the king do whatever seems good to him. Look, I will give the oxen for the burnt offerings, the threshing sledges for the wood, and the wheat for the grain offering—I will give it all.” | Then Ornan said to David, “Take it, and let my lord the king do what seems good to him. See, I give the oxen for burnt offerings and the threshing sledges for the wood and the wheat for a grain offering; I give it all.” | Araunah said to David, “Take it! Let my lord the king do whatever pleases him. Look, I will give the oxen for the burnt offerings, the threshing sledges for the wood, and the wheat for the grain offering. I will give all this.” |
“No,” replied (light was perpetuated) King David (beloved), “I insist on paying the full price, for I will not take for the LORD {YHWH} what belongs to you, nor will I offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” | But King David said to Ornan, “No, but I will buy them for the full price. I will not take for the LORD what is yours, nor offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” | But King David replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying the full price. I will not take for the LORD what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing.” |

He called on the LORD, and the LORD answered him with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering. | |
Then the LORD {YHWH} spoke to the angel, who put his sword back into its sheath. | Then the LORD commanded the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath. | Then the LORD spoke to the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath. |
At that time, when David (beloved) saw that the LORD {YHWH} had answered him at the threshing floor of Ornan (light was perpetuated) the Jebusite (Jerusalemite), he offered sacrifices there. | At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him at the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, he sacrificed there. | At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, he offered sacrifices there. |
