Timothy 2
NLT Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New Living TranslationNew American Standard Bible 1995
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.1First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.2for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
This is good and pleases God our Savior,3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.5For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.6who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.
And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I’m not exaggerating—just telling the truth.7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.8Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.
And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.9Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,
For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.10but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.
Women should learn quietly and submissively.11A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.
I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly.12But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.
For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve.13For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.
And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result.14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
But women will be saved through childbearing, assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty.15But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
