| 1Praise the LORD! How joyful are those who fear the LORD and delight in obeying his commands. | 1Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. |
| 2Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. | 2His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. |
| 3They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever. | 3Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. |
| 4Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. | 4Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. |
| 5Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. | 5A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. |
| 6Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. | 6Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. |
| 7They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. | 7He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. |
| 8They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. | 8His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. |
| 9They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor. | 9He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. |
| 10The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will grind their teeth in anger; they will slink away, their hopes thwarted. | 10The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish. |
