New King James Version | New Living Translation |
A Psalm of Asaph. God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods. | 1God presides over heaven’s court; he pronounces judgment on the heavenly beings: |
How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? Selah | 2“How long will you hand down unjust decisions by favoring the wicked? Interlude |
Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. | 3“Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. |
Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked. | 4Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people. |
They do not know, nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are unstable. | 5But these oppressors know nothing; they are so ignorant! They wander about in darkness, while the whole world is shaken to the core. |
I said, “You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High. | 6I say, ‘You are gods; you are all children of the Most High. |
But you shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.” | 7But you will die like mere mortals and fall like every other ruler.’” |
Arise, O God, judge the earth; For You shall inherit all nations. | 8Rise up, O God, and judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you. |
