New King James Version | New International Version |
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; | 1Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, |
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. | 2but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. |
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. | 3That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers. |
The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. | 4Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. |
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. | 5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. |
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish. | 6For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. |
