New King James Version | NET Bible |
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; | 1How blessed is the one who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of scoffers! |
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. | 2Instead he finds pleasure in obeying the LORD's commands; he meditates on his commands day and night. |
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. | 3He is like a tree planted by flowing streams; it yields its fruit at the proper time, and its leaves never fall off. He succeeds in everything he attempts. |
The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. | 4Not so with the wicked! Instead they are like wind-driven chaff. |
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. | 5For this reason the wicked cannot withstand judgment, nor can sinners join the assembly of the godly. |
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish. | 6Certainly the LORD guards the way of the godly, but the way of the wicked ends in destruction. |
