For the director of music. According to gittith. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty!1For the choir director: on the Gittith. A psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely is Your dwelling place, LORD of Hosts.
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.2I long and yearn for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young-- a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God.3Even a sparrow finds a home, and a swallow, a nest for herself where she places her young-- near Your altars, LORD of Hosts, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.4How happy are those who reside in Your house, who praise You continually. Selah
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.5Happy are the people whose strength is in You, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.6As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a source of springwater; even the autumn rain will cover it with blessings.
They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.7They go from strength to strength; each appears before God in Zion.
Hear my prayer, LORD God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob.8 LORD God of Hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah
Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one.9Consider our shield, God; look on the face of Your anointed one.
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.10Better a day in Your courts than a thousand anywhere else. I would rather be at the door of the house of my God than to live in the tents of wicked people.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.11For the LORD God is a sun and shield. The LORD gives grace and glory; He does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity.
LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.12Happy is the person who trusts in You, LORD of Hosts!
