First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people,1First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.2for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
Such prayer for all is good and welcomed before God our Savior,3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
since he wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one intermediary between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human,5For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave himself as a ransom for all, revealing God's purpose at his appointed time.6who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.
For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle--I am telling the truth; I am not lying--and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
So I want the men to pray in every place, lifting up holy hands without anger or dispute. 8Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.
Likewise the women are to dress in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. Their adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing,9Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,
but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God.10but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.
A woman must learn quietly with all submissiveness.11A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.
But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man. She must remain quiet.12But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.
For Adam was formed first and then Eve.13For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, because she was fully deceived, fell into transgression.14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
But she will be delivered through childbearing, if she continues in faith and love and holiness with self-control. 15But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
