For the music director, Jeduthun; a psalm of David. For God alone I patiently wait; he is the one who delivers me. 1For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. A Davidic psalm. I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.
He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended. 2He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will never be shaken.
How long will you threaten a man? All of you are murderers, as dangerous as a leaning wall or an unstable fence. 3How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you attack as if he were a leaning wall or a tottering stone fence?
They spend all their time planning how to bring him down. They love to use deceit; they pronounce blessings with their mouths, but inwardly they utter curses. (Selah) 4They only plan to bring him down from his high position. They take pleasure in lying; they bless with their mouths, but they curse inwardly. Selah
Patiently wait for God alone, my soul! For he is the one who gives me confidence. 5Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from Him.
He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended. 6He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken.
God delivers me and exalts me; God is my strong protector and my shelter. 7My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God.
Trust in him at all times, you people! Pour out your hearts before him! God is our shelter! (Selah) 8Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah
Men are nothing but a mere breath; human beings are unreliable. When they are weighed in the scales, all of them together are lighter than air. 9Men are only a vapor; exalted men, an illusion. Weighed in the scales, they go up; together they are less than a vapor.
Do not trust in what you can gain by oppression! Do not put false confidence in what you can gain by robbery! If wealth increases, do not become attached to it! 10Place no trust in oppression, or false hope in robbery. If wealth increases, pay no attention to it.
God has declared one principle; two principles I have heard: God is strong, 11God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: strength belongs to God,
and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love. For you repay men for what they do. 12and faithful love belongs to You, LORD. For You repay each according to his works.
