| 19Tell us what we should say to him. We cannot prepare a case because of the darkness. | 19Teach us what we shall say to him; we cannot draw up our case because of darkness. |
| 20Should he be informed that I want to speak? If a man speaks, surely he would be swallowed up! | 20Shall it be told him that I would speak? Did a man ever wish that he would be swallowed up? |
| 21But now, the sun cannot be looked at--it is bright in the skies--after a wind passed and swept the clouds away. | 21“And now no one looks on the light when it is bright in the skies, when the wind has passed and cleared them. |
| 22From the north he comes in golden splendor; around God is awesome majesty. | 22Out of the north comes golden splendor; God is clothed with awesome majesty. |
| 23As for the Almighty, we cannot attain to him! He is great in power, but justice and abundant righteousness he does not oppress. | 23The Almighty—we cannot find him; he is great in power; justice and abundant righteousness he will not violate. |
