Corinthians 2
NASB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995New International Version
And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.1And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.2For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling,3I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling.
and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,4My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power,
so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.5so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power.
Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;6We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;7No, we declare God's wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.
the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
but just as it is written, "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM."9However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him--
For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.10these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.11For who knows a person's thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,12What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.
which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.13This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.14The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.15The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments,
For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.16for, "Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
