Corinthians 13
KJV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
King James BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.1If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.2If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.3And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,4Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;5does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;6does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.8Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.9For we know in part and we prophesy in part;
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.10but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.11When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.12For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.13But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
