King James Bible | International Standard Version |
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. | 1Then I saw in the right hand of the one who sits on the throne a scroll written on the inside and on the outside, sealed with seven seals. |
And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? | 2I also saw a powerful angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?" |
And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. | 3No one in heaven, on earth, or under the earth could open the scroll or look inside it. |
And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. | 4I began to cry bitterly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or look inside it. |
And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. | 5"Stop crying," one of the elders told me. "Look! The Lion from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered. He can open the scroll and its seven seals." |
And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. | 6Then I saw a lamb standing in the middle of the throne, the four living creatures, and the elders. He looked like he had been slaughtered. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent into all the earth. |
And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. | 7He went and took the scroll from the right hand of the one who sits on the throne. |
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. | 8When the lamb had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders bowed down in front of him. Each held a harp and a gold bowl full of incense, the prayers of the saints. |
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; | 9They sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slaughtered. With your blood you purchased people for God from every tribe, language, people, and nation. |
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. | 10You made them a kingdom and priests for our God, and they will reign on the earth." |
And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; | 11Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels, the living creatures, and the elders surrounding the throne. They numbered 10,000's times 10,000 and thousands times thousands. |
Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. | 12They sang with a loud voice, "Worthy is the lamb who was slaughtered to receive power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and praise!" |
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. | 13I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and on the sea, and everything that is in them, saying, "To the one who sits on the throne and to the lamb be praise, honor, glory, and power forever and ever!" |
And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever. | 14Then the four living creatures said, "Amen!", and the elders bowed down and worshipped. |
