To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! | 1How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD of Armies. |
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. | 2I long and yearn for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God. |
Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. | 3Even a sparrow finds a home, and a swallow, a nest for herself where she places her young--near your altars, LORD of Armies, my King and my God. |
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. | 4How happy are those who reside in your house, who praise you continually. Selah |
Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. | 5Happy are the people whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. |
Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. | 6As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a source of springwater; even the autumn rain will cover it with blessings. |
They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. | 7They go from strength to strength; each appears before God in Zion. |
O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah. | 8LORD God of Armies, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah |
Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. | 9Consider our shield, God; look on the face of your anointed one. |
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. | 10Better a day in your courts than a thousand anywhere else. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than live in the tents of wicked people. |
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. | 11For the LORD God is a sun and shield. The LORD grants favor and honor; he does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity. |
O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. | 12Happy is the person who trusts in you, LORD of Armies! |
