Psalm 127
ESV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionNew Living Translation
1Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.1Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.
2It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.2It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.
3Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.3Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him.
4Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.4Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.
5Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.5How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.
